ART PROJECT BY STALKE OUT OF SPACE AND SAM JEDIG
Artstamp.dk: A Reimagining of Art and Communication
Founded in 2007 by artist and producer Sam Jedig in collaboration with Stalke Out of Space, Artstamp.dk is an artistic project that redefines the postage stamp as a medium for critical reflection and dialogue. By breaking away from traditional stamp and art exhibition practices, the project creates small, independent works of art in limited editions that transcend boundaries of geography, medium, and societal norms.
Art in Everyday Life
Artstamp.dk views the stamp not merely as an object but as a tool for interaction and transformation. Through ceremonial releases like “first day covers,” the stamp’s potential to connect people, places, and ideas is activated. The project emphasizes that art doesn’t only belong in museums and galleries but can also bring reflection and depth to everyday life.
Collaboration with Over 75 Artists
In 2008, Sam Jedig decided to invite other artists to participate in the project as guest contributors. Since then, this initiative has become a cornerstone of Artstamp.dk, with more than 75 artists contributing their interpretations of artstamps. This collaboration is now a vital part of the project’s identity, strengthening its vision as a platform for artistic dialogue and diversity.
Analog Art in a Digital Age
In an era dominated by digital communication, Artstamp.dk insists on the importance of physical and tactile experiences. Each stamp is a mobile and democratic form of art that can spark reflection no matter where it appears.
Sam Jedig’s Vision
As both artist and producer, Sam Jedig views the stamp as a unique medium for creating connections and challenging boundaries—conceptually and geographically. For Jedig, artstamps are more than small objects; they are catalysts for change and dialogue, bringing art into both the ordinary and the extraordinary.
