Born in Reykjavík in 1971, Hulda graduated from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2000 with a BA in painting and later expanded her artistic repertoire by studying pottery and ceramics at the Reykjavík Academy of Fine Arts in 2007-2008.

Hulda has gained widespread recognition for her distinctive artistic voice. Her accolades include a nomination for the prestigious Carnegie Art Award in 2007, highlighting her as a promising contemporary Nordic painter, and a nomination for the Icelandic Visual Arts Award in 2018 for her solo exhibition Valbrá at Kling & Bang gallery in Reykjavík. In 2020, her sustained contributions to the arts over two decades earned her the Tilberinn Art Award.

Her works have been showcased in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Iceland and internationally, including regular displays at the Stalke Galleri over the past 15 years. Museums and private collectors have acquired her pieces, further solidifying her presence in the art world. Beyond traditional visual arts, Hulda has also engaged in experimental performance art, exemplified by her 2003 project Angelica Smith's Gallery, a temporary gallery she operated as a live performance piece.

Hulda's artistry is deeply emotional yet calm and reflective, often addressing themes of freedom of expression and environmental conservation. Her poetic engagement with landscapes and human narratives is also evident in her published works, including poetry and picture books like Valbrá (2017).

Her unique ability to blend emotional depth with a serene aesthetic makes her a prominent figure in contemporary Icelandic and Nordic art.
