Sigurgeir Sigurjónsson has long been renowned for his landscape photography. Born in Reykjavík in 1948, he began his formal education in photography in Iceland, studying from 1965 to 1969. He continued his education at the Christer Strömholm School of Photography in Stockholm from 1970 to 1971, and further honed his craft through private studies in San Diego, California, from 1980 to 1981.


Upon returning to Reykjavík, Sigurgeir worked as an advertising photographer for 20 years. Over the course of his career, he has published numerous books. His first, Svip-myndir, was released in 1982, followed by Horses in 1985 and his first collection of landscape photography, Landscapes, in 1992. His work is widely celebrated, and some of his most popular publications include Iceland - the Warm Country of the North (1994), Amazing Iceland (1998), Lost in Iceland (2002), Found in Iceland (2006), Made in Iceland (2007), Icelandic Horses (2008), Little Big Book About Iceland (2010), Lost in Argentina (2011), Earthward: Aerial Photos (2011), and Iceland Small World (2012).


In addition to his books, Sigurgeir Sigurjónsson has held several exhibitions through Stalke Gallery, showcasing his iconic landscape photography and further establishing his reputation in the art world.
